a space reimagined

Before it became The Manheim, this building had a very different life. For many years it operated as a neighborhood car wash, but after it closed the property sat vacant and neglected. Over time it became an eyesore, collecting trash and attracting questionable late-night activity.

Lynn, who lives nearby, drove past the building almost every day. What others saw as a forgotten structure, she saw as an opportunity to create something meaningful for the neighborhood.

In 2018, Lynn purchased the property with a vision for transforming it into a welcoming gathering place. Planning and permitting took time, and construction officially began in 2019.

Shortly after, the COVID-19 pandemic brought unexpected challenges. Work slowed dramatically as only one person could be in the building at once, and supply chain issues made materials difficult to obtain.

What was originally expected to be a straightforward renovation turned into a multi-year effort.

Finally, in May 2022, The Manheim officially became available for private functions.

When designing The Manheim, Lynn wanted the space to feel elegant, full of character, and something guests wouldn't see everywhere else. The furnishings and special touches were collected from many different places - antique shops, estate sales, specialty furniture designers, and unique finds discovered along the way. Each piece was chosen intentionally to contribute to the warm and welcoming environment Lynn envisioned.

From the beginning, Lynn imagined The Manheim as more than just a meeting space. She wanted a place where people could gather comfortably to share ideas, host meetings, teach classes, and build community. As someone actively involved in several local groups, Lynn saw the need for welcoming places where people could meet and collaborate.

Today, the transformation is clear. What was once an abandoned property has become a welcoming space filled with gatherings, discussions, celebrations, and shared experiences. The corner that once attracted trash and illegal activity now brings people together in a positive way.

When guests walk through the door of The Manheim, the goal is simple: to create a space that feels elegant, inviting, and comfortable from the moment they arrive.
